Behind Every Conservation Easement is a Conservation Hero.
Here are their stories.
Aldo Leopold once said, “There are two things that interest me: the relationship of people to each other and the relationship of people to the land.” Taos Land Trust has always been about connecting land and people.
Nearly 70 years after Leopold’s death and more than 25 years since the founding of Taos Land Trust, we continue to understand the critical role of these relationships in our conservation mission. Every place we helps save has its story. Every place we conserve has its relationships and connections. Here, you’ll find some of those stories from people who speak powerfully about their love and connection to the land they preserved. It is our hope that their stories about land conservation of land – whether it’s scenic open space, productive agricultural property or traditional ranch land inherent to our culture – might inspire other to do the same.
